Possibly from another animal or a toy? My ferret has gotten it from his now partner that we got at a pet shop.

Even in wire hutches you can have a ear mite infestation in your ... If your rabbit has an ear mite infestation you will notice a brown waxy ... This just puts the rabbit through unnecessary pain.
