Explanation:

To make a pentagon one side of the triangle must equal one side of the square.

The length of each side of the square = 48/4 = 12 cm so one side of the triangle = 12 cm.

The sum of the other 2 sides of the triangle = 38 - 12 = 26cm.

So the required perimeter = 26 + 3(12)

= 26 + 36

= 62 cm.
