To find the slope, use the equation m=y1-y2/x1-x2. In this problem, you’d write (-1)-1/5-4 and get -2/1. -2/1 is the same as just -2, so the slope is -2. Parallel lines have the same slope, so the slope of the parallel line is also -2.
