Convex polygons have vertices that all point outwards.
They do not need equal sides or symmetry but all regular polygons are convex.
The interior angles all need to be less than 180 degrees.

Non-convex polygons have one or more vertices pushed inside the shape.
The interior angle at those vertices will be greater than 180 degrees
