Porfirio Díaz in 1867 (age 37)
Although he was admitted to a seminary, he joined the national guard during the war with the United States, but did not participate in the actual fighting. He distinguished himself in the fighting during the War of the Reform (1858-1860), and by 1861 he was already a brigadier general.
