Social Darwinism was an idea put forward by Charles Darwin and Social Darwinists practically believe in the survival of the fittest. This impacted the US in many ways not so unique to the US itself. Social Darwinism was used to justify racism and imperialism, social inequality, and eugenics. It is still present in the mindset of many US citizens in a way where many believe that if you did not succeed you are destined to fail because of yourself no matter what inequality you faced in life. It is still used for imperialist purposes by the US too.
