First we are going to pick two point on the line.

Step 2

(y2-y1) / (x2-x1)

(4-2) / (4-1)

in the first set we label x as x1 and y as y1, then we do the same with the other set but with x turning into x2 and y turning into y2. We then plug them into the equation.

Step 3

(2)/(3)

or

2/3

Now we solve what is in the parentheses (4-2) is 2, and (4-1) is 3. We then take away the parentheses and have 2/3. keep 2/3 as a fraction, do not change it to a decimal.
