A mixture of purple paint contains 6 teaspoons of red paint and 15 teaspoons of blue paint. To make the same shade of purple paint using 25 teaspoons of blue paint, how much red paint would you need? Use the double number line diagram to help if needed.

Answer:

10tsp

Explanation:

When you’re mixing the paint, you can create a ratio. 6:15 is equal to 2:5. Well, in order to get 25 teaspoons of blue paint, you have to multiply 5 by 5, and in doing so multiply 2 by 5 (in order for the ratio to stay even, you have to multiply both sides) to get 10 teaspoons.
