Since we have parenthesis on both the top and bottom half of the division equation we do what is inside of those parenthesis first. (9-3/1) you need to do 3/1 first, which is just three, and then do 9-3, which is 6. on the bottom half you have (3+1) which is 4, so now you just have 6/4, which simplifies to 3/2, or 1.5.
