Why is a closed-circuit needed for electricity to power any device

Answer:

a closed circuit is needed because the power has to have a full path to go through if the circuit is open it can not complete there for the power will not work in an open circuit because electricity will not completely make it through to the device.

you need a closed path, or closed circuit, to get electric current to flow. if there's a break anywhere in the path, you have an open circuit, and the current stops flowing — and the metal atoms in the wire quickly settle down to a peaceful, electrically neutral existence.
