This type of bone is oddly shaped to provide support and protection, while still providing protection. Examples include the vertebrae. Which type of bone am I describing?

Answer:

There are two types of osseous tissue which form the bones of our skeleton. These are compact, or cortical bone, and spongy, or cancellous bone. Cortical, or compact bone, is what most people think of when you say the word 'bone.' This osseous tissue is what forms the outside shell, or cortex, of bones.
