Answer: To arouse public sympathy for slaughterhouse workers

Step-by-step explanation:

The Jungle by Upton Sinclair follows the life of a Lithuanian family in Chicago as they try to navigate through a very difficult and frustrating life. Through the eyes of the characters especially Jurgis who worked at a slaughterhouse, we are able to see the horrible conditions that workers in such industries are put through.

The aim of the book therefore, was to bring to light those terrible condition that the workers were put through in order to arouse public sympathy for the workers from the public.
