they subtracted 6x from 4. you can’t do that because 6x has a variable while 4 doesn’t. x = - 14/13

You have to add like terms.

7x and 6x are like terms. If you don’t do that, the answer will be wrong

If you add them, then it would be

13x + 18 = 4
Subtract 18 from each side
13x = -14
Divide both sides by 13 to get
X = -14 / 13
