Can someone proofread my intro to my college essay, please?

Have you ever wanted to just escape your life for just a little bit without consequence? When I feel like this I love to read and/or listen to music. Just sitting down with a good book and it's like I just seem to leave my body and go to another world. Or just laying down in a dark room all by yourself with some music and just listening, not paying any attention to anything else in the world. One minute I'm reading and the next it's like I'm the main character in the book.
