In an isotope, what does the 'u' stand for?

For example: Lithium isotope: Li-6 6u
The u after 6

The u is called atomic mass unit.
It is a unit of weight
Like we have kilograms,grams,milligrams, On the atomic level,the unit of weight measurement is AMU or just u for short.
