f(x) = (1)/(3)x - 4 \\

y = (1)/(3)x - 4 \\

Subtract the sides of the equation plus 4

y + 4 = (1)/(3)x \\

Multiply the sides of the equation by 3

3(y + 4) = x

3y + 12 = x

So ;

{f}^( - 1)(x) = 3x + 12
