if the perimeter of a tennis court is 228 feet and the length is 6 feet longer than twice the width, then what are the length and the width?

Answer:

228-12 = 6w +12 -12

216 = 6w

divide both sides by 6

216/6 =6w/6

36 = w

so width = 36 feet

then the length is ..

l = 2w + 6

= 2*36 +6

= 72 +6=78

so the length = 78 feet
