Continuing to 25VNICHOLSON’s answer, is that not everyone is brainwashed, some may speak out against the gov. But just “disappear”

Answer:

It still affects them because they have basically been brainwashed and told that that one person is the only one in control no one else. The government changed to communist because they wanted to have control over the people. With a communist government they are able to make sure people only listen to them.
