Jim Crow laws were a series of discrimanatory laws aganist recently freed African slaves. They were called Jim Crow laws after the 19th century stage actor. These laws were laws that African-American people could not use or do the exact same things as white people. For instance, white people were able to use high-quality bubblers and restrooms, whilst African-Americans were not allowed to use them. Rather, they had to use the 'Colored' bathrooms and bubblers, which were MUCH poorer in quality. Jim Crow laws were one of the many ways people told African-Americans that they are not equal to white people.
