The graph below shows the relationship between time and distance traveled by a race car moving at a constant rate and at its maximum speed. How long did it take the race car to travel 480 miles? Explanation:

From the table we can make comparison between the distance travelled and the time taken. It can be seen that the time increases as the distance decrease.

If the car travels 700 miles in 0.5seconds and 600miles in 1.5secs, we can calculate the speed of the car using the formula;

v = change in distance/change in time

v = ΔS/Δt

v = 700-600/0.5-1.5

v = 100/-1

v = -100mi/hr

Since Speed = Distance/Time

-100 = 480/Time

Time = 480/-100

Time = -4.8s

Hence it will take the car 4.8seconds to travel 480miles.
