Answer:

  • Element: Elements are the pure substances that cannot be broken to its smaller ones. e.g. sodium, hydrogen etc.
  • Metals: metals are substances that belong to the left part of the periodic table. metals conduct heat and electricity. they are usually solid at room temparature. Group I and II metals are soft and can be cut by a knife. e.g. Sodium, Zinc, copper etc.
  • Non-Metal: non-metals belong to the right side of the periodic table. They do not conduct electricity and are usually liquid and gas at room temparature. e.g. Oxygen, helium, Iodine etc.
  • Compounds: Compounds are new substances formed when two or more different elements are chemically combined. eg. Sodium Chloride, Calsium Sulphate etc.
