\sqrt[n]{256} = 8^(1/3) * 8^(1/3)


\sqrt[n]{256} = 8^(2/3)


\sqrt[n]{2^8} = 8^(2/3)


2^(8/n) = 2^(3 * (2/3))


2^(8/n) = 2^(2)


8/n = 2


2n = 8


n = 4 < --- This is your answer
