b=4

Explanation:

g(x)=x^2+bx+11

When x = -1 g(x) = 8

8 = (-1)^2 +b(-1) +11

8 = 1 -b+11

Combine terms

8 = 12-b

Subtract 12 from each side

8-12 = 12-b-12

-4 = -b

Multiply by -1

4 = b
