Shariah is what Islamist (politically Islam) countries base their laws on. This is a composite of the Quran itself, considered immutable as the word of God, which was passed onto the the Prophet Mohammed, and the Hadith which are sayings, doings, and tacit approvals of the Prophet Mohammed. There are however various interpretations here.
