Ancient Egyptians used hieroglyphs to write. Hieroglyphics is a complicated way of writing that uses hundreds of symbols. Egyptians eventually used three different scripts. Ancient Egyptians recorded their history on the walls of temples, on tombs, and on papyrus scrolls. On the other hand, Mesopotamians used pictograms, which later evolved into the cuneiform script. Mesopotamians used writing to mainly record information about crops and taxes. The Mesopotamian writing system was limited to writing on stone tablets.

Writing on papyrus scrolls made Egypt unique because it allowed Egyptians to easily carry and transport messages.
