adaption seems to be the best answer. this is because natural selection is basically survival of the fittest; meaning that the animals that can best ADAPT to the environment will be the one to survive, and the animals who can’t adapt will die. If animals couldn’t adapt natural selection technically wouldn’t even be able to occur.
