it had to be dormant because, it was not active for a very long time until then so no to active, it was not quiet but it wasn’t active either, and it was not extinct because it had smoke coming out of it. This is why I think it was dormant because if it’s dormant, it’s almost like a way to say that the volcano wasn’t extinct, or quiet, or active, but it was sleeping.
