Suppose you are making a map of a square area. The dimensions of the actual area are 1,000 km by 1,000 km. You are drawing the map on a grid that is 10 cm by 10 cm. What scale would you use? Two cities are 820 km apart on the ground. How far apart are they on your map?

Answer:

I am not completely sure of the first answer, but the cities would be 8.2cm apart.
