Answer:

The mission was the chapel or church where religious services and teaching occurred. The presidio was the fort manned by soldiers that protected the mission settlement, and the pueblo/ settlement was the area surrounding the mission where the soldiers’ families settled and people seeking opportunities to conduct trade with the priests, soldiers, and Indians of the mission also settled. The mission was much like a small town.
