Explanation: if they were to make a hypothesis where they made guesses to how many people were to have something, they could use the quantitative data to prove that the amount they guessed was either wrong or right. Example: i guessed there would be five people who would get sick after contact with a mysterious object, after collecting data i figured out that our average number of people sick was 5-6, this means the hypothesis was correct.
