What really helped the US economy was that there wasn't a lot of competition and they were getting shipped in so many resources due to trading that they recuperated fast anyways.

Another major invention that helped was the credit card invention because it gave Americans a way to spend even if they didn't have the money,and then they could just repay it later when they had the money saved up.
