So we know the siblings age is something like that.

We start from the youngest, and let's say the youngest's age is x.

Remember consecutive? So the three siblings' age would be x, x+1, x+2 respectively. We can prove this is consecutive by replacing x with a random number, say, 2. That would make x, x+1, x+2 become 2, 2+1, 2+2, which is 2,3,4.

Sum of their age is 39:

Adding x, x+1, x+2 together is 39, so x + x+1 + x+2 = 39

We can further simplify x + x+1 + x+2 = 39 into

3x + 3 = 39

3x = 39-3

3x= 36

x=36÷3

x=12
