robert has a piece of rope 12 1/2 feet long. he cut rope into pieces that are 1 1/4 feet long. How many of the shorter pieces will he have?

divide 25.5 by 6

or change them to fractions

51/2 divided by 6 = 51/2 x 1/6 = 51/12 = 4 3/12 = 4 1/2 feet each
