3x - 10 = 65
You can check it this way:
3x - 10 = 65
3x - 10 + 10 = 65 + 10
3x = 75
3x/3 = 75/3
X = 25
If each shirt costs $25 and he bought 3 of them, that would be $75. Then his coupon for $10 off would bring the total to $65.
