think of it like this: rise over run
you already have your variables your x and y (or in this case your d and m) so al you have to do it count how many times you have to rise from the origin to get to a point where you can run to the next point
what i mean is: your starting point was the origin (0,0) and you had to rise two times (0,2) and run once (1,2) to get to the next point on the graph meaning your rise over run is: 2/1 or 2
