-1.5+k = 8.2
k = 9.7 (as you add 1.5 to both sides)

*you do not subtract 1.5 from both sides, you add it to both sides.
as if you rearrange the left side of the equation, it’ll be k-1.5. therefore, you have to add 1.5 to make it k. since you have to do the same to both sides, you have to add 1.5 to both sides!

Answer:

u have to add 1.5 from both sides to cancel it out on the left, so it becomes 0. then on the right side u dont add a negative 1.5 because it would change your answer. the correct answer is k=9.7 because you add 8.2 and 1.5 which equals 9.7. you divide by k, in which case is 1 so it would still be k=9.7. hope this helps:)
