In the draft Jefferson wanted to stop the slave trade with Britain, but he didn't want to offend the southern colonies dedicated to farm work where slaves picked cotton and tobacco so that was removed, there were many parts that were removed, but the slavery one was most important because America would fear that the southern colonies like Georgia, South Carolina, and North Carolina would not agree with it and would secede. Alright. Simple answer yes. The final draft edited out the part about slavery. Jefferson criticized King George of Britain's support of slavery so when the first draft made it to the Continental Congress, many objected to the passage about slavery, and that section was removed from the Declaration.
