A diver went down 25.55 feet below the surface of the ocean, and then 13.5 feet further down, he then rose 12.85 feet. Enter and solve an expression to find the diver's new depth.

We are told that the diver went 25.55 feet below the surface of the ocean. It means that the diver's distance with respect to surface of ocean will be = -25.55 ft

Now, the diver went down a further 13.5 feet, it means that the diver's distance with respect to surface of ocean will be = -13.5 ft

The diver now rose 12.85 feet which is upwards. It means that the diver's distance with respect to surface of ocean will be = +12.85 ft.

Thus, if his new depth is denoted by y, then the expression to denote this new depth is;

y = -25.55 - 13.5 + 12.85

y = -26.2 ft
