What was one economic effect of the French and Indian War on American colonists?

War is very expensive. Britain won the the French and Indian War, but because of this they were in a lot of debt. Since Britain had control over the American colonies, they decided to tax them heavily to try to pay this debt off. The colonists were taxed very heavily.
