Why is rabies not a living thing? Please help

rabies is just a virus which spread to people from the saliva ofanimals which are infected by that. basiclly viruses are not living things. Viruses are complicated assemblies of molecules, including proteins, nucleic acids, lipids, and carbohydrates, but by theirselves they can do nothing until they enter a living cell.
