Classification of places into regions has its advantages and disadvantages. On the long run, its problems tends to outweighs its benefits.

For example, there is tendency of communal conflicts to erupts as a result of an area being tried to classified into regions. Also, there would be difficulty in trying to know the boundary upon which one region starts and ends.

At the same time, classifying places into regions would create more problems of other people seeking to break away from the new region and form their own regions.
