In solving 2x -5 = 3 do you have to use the addition property of equality first ? Why or why not ? Why do you nomrally use the addition or equality first ?

In that equation, you have to add the 5 over to the 3. You do this because you want the variable (x) by itself, meaning on one side. That’s why after you add the 5, you will have to divide by 2 to get x by itself. Hope this helps.
