Instructions: Choose a presidential speech. Locate an audio file of it on the Internet and complete each of the steps below as you listen. Pay close attention to the introduction. What key points will the speaker discuss? What predictions can you make about the content of the speech? Find the main ideas. What does the speaker want you to think or do as a result of this speech? What is the speaker's thesis statement or main argument? Analyze the body of the speech. How does the speaker prove each of his points? Review. Were your initial predictions correct? Type the answers to these questions as well as any notes that you took about the speech in the box below.
