Militarism:
Military received more funding.
Help built planes and ships.
More funding helped to gain more colonies.
Alliances:
Central powers were surrounded by "triple entente".
Europe divided.
Nationalism:
Countries wanted to be independent.
Countries wanted to win which raised tensions.
Countries had an opposition against what they had desired previously.
Imperialism:
Countries competing for the same market rose tensions.
Countries were fighting for more land.
Military bases were created more often in colonized areas of the world.
Assassination:
Countries that had alliances declared war on each other.
Countries who had someone important assassinated became furious that other country and decalred war.
