The first thing we need to do to solve this equation is expand the brackets. To so this we need to multiply the outside term with each of the terms inside the bracket (distributive law).

This gives us:

3xb + 3x3 -4x-2 -4xb = 19

Which multiplies out to:

3b + 9 + 8 -4b = 19

Combine like terms:

-b +17 = 19

From here we move the 17 to the other side by subtracting 17 from both sides

-b +17 -17 = 19 - 17

-b = 2

Divide both sides by -1:

-b/-1 = 2/-1

Which gives us:

b = -2
