Why can't you use algebra tiles to modle the multiplication of a linear polynomial by a quadratic polynomial

Multiplying a linear polynomial by a quadratic polynomial would equal a cubic polynomial. Algebraic tiles do not model cubic functions. Explanation: x * x2 = x3 ; using tiles for 2x is simple enough (2 tiles), 2x2 would be 2x2 tiles.
