Democracy stems from the right of the people to have a say in our government. In a “true” democracy, every person would make decisions on every issue of the country. However, there are far too many people in our country to do that, which is why we have elected officials. As people are elected, they most closely follow the ideals of the people they govern (or at least the idea is for them to). In that way, everyone gets a say while still having such a large number of people
