The Piedmont region is the second largest in size, it contains the highest population. It makes up approximately 30 percent of the state and extends in the mountainous region.
The Coastal Plains region of Georgia is known for its flatlands, marshes and swamps. This area covers the southern and southeastern half of Georgia.
