Social class is a ranking based upon one's status in society. Similar individuals with similar incomes, property, and jobs are often grouped into the same social class. For example, in the U.S. there are approximately five social classes that most people can agree on: the upper class, the upper middle class, the lower middle class, the working class, and the poor class.
