Novel - From Speak by Laurie Halse Andrson

Melinda (the protagonist) has a vivid inner voice. What is significant, then, about the fact that she never actually speaks in this pasage?

Answer: Melinda not speaking notwithstanding having such a vivid inner voice reveals she´s anxious and feels alone.

Step-by-step explanation:

Melinda feels very much alone. She even feels as is everyone is judging her. Mr. Neck, the nickname she gave to the football coach, manifests her dislike for him, notwithstanding not saying it out loud. He´s one of the last people she would open up to.

Notwithstanding having so many opinions and sentiments, she feels there´s no point in reaching out to nobody.
